You are what you eat. OK,... I'm a pop tart!

"If God didn’t mean for us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?"
~ bumper sticker

Several of my co-workers were discussing odd foods, and the topic quickly became a contest to see who had eaten the strangest thing. One lady said she had eaten chocolate covered grasshoppers. Another said she had eaten grasshopper legs when she was little, but they weren’t chocolate covered, she just pulled them right off a grasshopper in the yard.

Being a rather 'dicriminating' eater, I didn’t have much to contribute to the conversation. I didn’t think anyone would wince and be grossed out when I said, " Oh man, I tried broccoli once!" So I just listened and grimaced.

I don't understand the desire to eat disgusting things. Have you eaten something weird? What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

Oh! Oh! I was once convinced to try escargot by my then-boyfriend's father, at a VERY fancy restaurant. Now, I HATE slimey food, and like you, I am, um, descriminating (yeah, that's it.) But I thought "One bite can't kill me. Can it?" As I put in in my mouth, Dr. Merrick said, "Now Kate, just try not to think about the fact that you're eating a snail's eyes and it's a**hole."

I have eaten a live squid. It was a little one, and it tasted like stringy salt water.

I ahve also eaten what a native Afghan person imagined a pizza would be. It had crust, a sauce, meat and cheese, but it was not pizza.

It was not pizza at all.
