I'm not particularly fond of the Vera Bradley bags, but they seem to be all the rage over here in Oregon. I just hope people in Idaho like them! It's about $60 bag. Hopefully someone will love it!

IPOM Donation
I have ALWAYS gotten a donation for my employers for the Idaho Peace Officers Memorial fund raiser, which is a barn dance and silent auction. I figured it might be a real challenge for me this year, since I am now working in Oregon. But the place I work, Al's Garden Center, happily donated a Vera Brandly hand bag for the auction. :o) I thought that was really nice of them since there is basically NO advertising potential for them in it. They are just good people.

Thank got that's over...
I'd forgotten how much I enjoy long rides on a motorcycle. You experience so much more than in a car. The sun, the wind, the temperature changes, the smells.... It's just so different from going places in a car.
But I'd also forgotten that when one is not used to long motorcycle rides, one should take several medium rides first to prepare the "back side" for that type of use! I'm not gonna want to sit for a week!
The ride was great,... the "company" sucked.

I'm excited!
Oh boy! I'm excited! I'm spending the day with a cutie. We're going for a motorcycle ride. When I asked him where we were going to go, he grinned, pointed west, and said, "That way."
Perfect answer!
Perfect answer!
The photo shows his cafe bike, but we're going on his cruiser. He has 3. The third is a vintage one with a side car! How cute is that!

Clean Air Leads To Bright Employees
By Linda Kay Harrison
It’s true that diet and exercise are important, but if you really want to be happier, healthier, and more productive at work or at home, surround yourself with houseplants!
We’ve known for quite a while that plants remove toxins from the air, but did you know that they can also, reduce stress, lower illness rates, and improve learning ability?
According to a study done by the Norway University of Agriculture, indoor plants can reduce fatigue, coughs, sore throats and other cold-related illnesses by increasing humidity levels and removing chemical irritants and dust from the air. Tests also showed that attentiveness and learning increased considerably when participants worked in areas surrounded by indoor plants.
Many corporations and major employers are learning that adding indoor plants greatly improves employee health and morale. This is also good to keep in mind for your student’s study areas and dorm rooms. Schools and corporations both have reported up to 30 percent decrease in student/employee absences after indoor plants were added to work areas.
All plants remove impurities from the air to some degree. But some plants are better at absorbing certain chemicals than others. Below is a list of plants and the chemicals they absorb best.
* The following information is from a study done by the National Aeronautics & Space Administration – NASA
The most common indoor pollutants are formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene. These chemicals can be harmful and cause a variety of health problems. They are found in many common household products.
Formaldehyde is commonly found in particleboard and pressed wood products as well as in water repellents, fire retardants, natural gas and kerosene. It’s also known to be a component in cigarette smoke. The best plants for absorbing formaldehyde are:
Philodendron - any type
Dracena - Janet Craig --(Photo #2)
Chlorphytum - spider plant -- (Photo #3)
Dracena - Marginata -- (Photo #5)
Pothos - any type
Bamboo Palm --- (Photo #1)
Sanseveria - snake plant
Spathaphylum - Peace Lily -- (Photo #4)
Bensene is in most products containing inks, oils, and paints made of plastic or rubber. The best plants for removing benzene are:
Gerbera Daisy
Dracena - Janet Craig
Crysanthamum
Dracena - Warneckei
Bamboo Palm
Spathaphylum - Peace Lily
Trichloroethylene is in paints and varnishes which are the two of the most common sources of this chemical in your home. Trichloroethylene is considered a carcinogen. The best plants for removing trichloroethylene are:
Gerbera Daisy
Dracena - Janet Craig
Bamboo Palm
Dracena - Warneckei
Spathaphylum - Peace Lily
Dracena - Marginata
Formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene and other pollutants are also commonly found in carpeting, cleansers, perfume and even in furniture and appliances.
To take this idea a step further,… we already know that a good night’s sleep can reduce stress and improve health, so in addition to using the above plants in daytime work areas, try bromeliads, orchids and succulents in sleeping areas. These plants exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide at night rather than during the day like most other plants. This is a great way to freshen the air you breathe during sleep, and wake feeling more alert and healthy.
House plants are great for brightening a room, but it’s great to know that they can actually make YOU brighter too!

More birdies....
Dewitt! Dewitt! Dewitt!
Gracie has a new pet. She's been very unhappy since I've moved to this apartment. She's home alone more, and in her cage more. She's always had an active family environment, and even when she was home alone, she's always had a cat or some other pet there with her. Anyway, she has plucked her poor little chest to bare naked! So I figured, I'd better do something before she plucks everything else. So I bought her a pet. Lisa and I went and picked out a parakeet for Grace.
This is Dewitt.
Gracie named him. I'm not sure what "dewitt" means, but it's something Gracie just started saying, so we figure that's the parakeets name. He's a cute little guy, and quite the escape artist too. He's in a cage that is meant for a larger bird, so if he smashes himself really flat, he can squeeze throught the bars.
Gracie was afraid of Dewitt when we first brought brought him home. But now I think she likes him. Not sure. But I hope this helps her, because otherwise, I'm going to have to find her another home. (which I will HATE!) But I just don't see my life returning to what she or I would concider "normal" anytime soon.
- sigh -
Poor Gracie bird.

I want a dog...
When the lease runs out on this ‘arm pit’ we’re living in, (September! Ugh!), I’m getting out, and I’m getting a house. (Yea, I’ll probably have to rent for now.) But I want a house, so that I can have a yard and a dog. I have been without a dog for two and a half years, (probably the longest time in my life), and I want a dog! I’ve always had a dog, and I’ve always been very close to my dogs. Ah, yes,… the unconditional love that only a dog can give. Damn, I miss that. I used to have the greatest conversations with Hilde. She was an awesome listener. Best shrink I’ve ever known. And I miss Mattie terribly. Gob, she was funny. What a nut!
Yeah, Bob had dogs, but they weren’t mine, and really weren’t even allowed in the house. (which is ridiculous) So they didn’t count. I miss having that love and companionship. (Don’t get me wrong, I love Gracie to pieces, but cuddling with her is DANGEROUS! ) . Who knows, maybe having a dog might help me avoid making a mistake ‘relationship’ wise. I always want and need affection, companionship, snuggling, and love. I think having a dog might help alleviate some of that. Who needs a man when you’ve got a good dog?
Now the hard part is: What kind of dog? It HAS to be trainable, smart, well behaved and able to be around people and other animals. It has to be able to be in the house, in my car, go for walks, and even occasionally go to work with me. I’d like a small dog, but MOST of them are on the low end in intelligence and difficult to house train consistently.
After doing my research, the best two dogs are a sheltie or a golden retriever.
Shelties are very smart, and trainable. But they are often not very social. They are not fans of kids and other animals and can get ‘nippy’.
Goldens are perfect, except that they are large, and have one of the shortest life expectancies of any dog. 9 or 10 years, vs 12 to 14 for a sheltie and many other breeds.
I wouldn’t mind getting a mutt from a shelter, but anymore, it’s still $200 to adopt a mutt, and you don’t know what you’re getting in terms of health, size, temperament, or intelligence. At least buying from a reputable breeder you know what to expect.
Well, I’ve got a while to decide.

It's safe,...
This is just to let Jacki know - 'The McNugget' is safe. It's in my freezer. It's been in the door of my car for the past week, because I forgot it was there. You'd think having chicken in my car for a week it would smell bad, but when I ran out to get it, (about 5 minutes ago), I checked it and no smell, no sign of deterioration. It appears to be as fresh as the day we got it! Which is also a good representation of the amount of preservatives in McDonalds food.
And finally, I have not shown 'The McNugget' to anyone at McDonalds. I'm afraid they would take it away so that there would be no 'evidence'. And I have grown rather fond of it. In fact, I think I'm going to attach a necklace slide to it, and where it on my gold chain.
Well, that's the update for now.

What's a girl to do?
While I am enjoying "dating", and getting to know several nice men, there is a problem with all this crazyness. HOW does a woman remember what outfit she's worn for whom???
I had a date last night with 'Eddy'. Could NOT for the life of me remember what I wore last time I was with him, vs someone else. I had on a particular outfit that I like an then realized, that was EXACTLY what I wore when I met Eddy for the first time.
I need a system, a way of tagging my clothes with names so that I can remember...
Oh, woe is me....

Lisa and I are going to own McDonalds...
Not sure what we'll do with our 'millions' yet, but I'll start by painting my front door red.
Ok, so we went to McDonalds on Tuesday, and Lisa got this McNugget with a FEATHER sticking out of it!
I cant decide if I should sue for trama and unsanitary conditions, or congratulate them,... because it does appear to be proof that their chicken nuggets are actually make of chicken - or at least some sort of bird.
I could use some advise here....
My front entry
Both my sisters are blogging about their front entrys.
How to make the gateway to your home more inviting is important. Curb appeal.
So here's mine.

I could paint the front door red, to highlight the fire extinguisher, or I could go silver, to match the frame of the bicycle parked under those trendy, contemporary stairs. What do you think?
Me? Jealous? Nonsense! I LOVE apartment life!!!

How cute is this?
I decided it was time to make my bedroom a nice place to be. So I spent a little time and lots of money on it.
The first thing I needed was a box spring. I had just the top mattress and it sat really low and felt really weird. So I bought a box spring, and then realized I needed a way to get it home. Good ol' Lisa, she's always up for an adventure. So we bought some rope and went to pick up my mattress. I'm sure the two guys in the mattress store got a kick out of watching us tie it down and drive off. We were laughing and having fun the whole way! But it rode fine all the way home. I lived with Ken and Bob - two perfectionists when it comes to tying down loads. Trust me, I have been TAUGHT how to do correctly!

I also have been using a bedspread that I think was Kates in Junior High. It had been used to pad furniture in my many moves, so it was looking pretty bad, even after I washed it. So I got this cute pink white and black set. Feminine, but still a little classy. I was so excited to get it all put together. It's so cheery and inviting now. And my bed is tall and fluffy! This set looks so cute with Mom's old bed and dresser. (I still LOVE this bed and dresser set! Thanks Mom.)

The Neighbor still stops by for breakfast,...
...and now she brings her kids!
The Momma Squirrel that was comming by, now brings her 3 kids. 2 girls and a boy, I think. They move so fast that it's hard to tell.
That's Momma at the back, and 2 of the 3 kids. Try as I may, I could not get all 4 of them in a photo at the same time. They are soooo cute, and the kids are soooo funny, they romp, and jump on each other and chase each other!!!!
One of the kids comes up and scratches on the slidding glass door. She wants to come in and play with Gracie I think.

Update from Lala Land...
Not too much going on in Lala Land, but here's an update:
Bob came in to work yesterday to bring me some mail. I was so excited to see him! I grabbed him and hugged him. We visisted for quite a while. I hugged him again when he left. And then I promptly teared up as he walked away. (sigh...) I miss the butt head.
I'm still loosing weight, although it's no longer intentional. I stopped 'trying' to loose when I hit 127 lbs. But now I'm down to 121 lbs. I've lost 6 more in just the last couple of months. I hope I don't keep loosing! I'm down by 21 lbs since last August. Over 25% of that has been since I moved. Hmm,... But I'm starting a new fashion trend, safety pins in the sides of my pants! Might be time to go shopping for smaller pants. I've been resorting to borrowing Lisa's pants when I have a date, and safety pins aren't suitable. (pathetic....)
I've been going out on lots of dates. That is fun. I had a great dancer, Mark, take me out dancing the other night. This guy was good! It was so much fun! But no chemistry on my part, and too much on his, so I doubt I'll see him again. There's another guy, Eddy, that seems funny and fun. I'm meeting him for the first time, for dinner tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. Then there is Ron,(a different Ron), he's my favorite. He is adorable, and fun and just a tiny bit bashful, which is very endearing. We've gone out 3 times and had so much fun together. I could go crazy for this one, but I'm trying very hard not to. Because I genuinely like him, I have a feeling he could bolt and any time! There is another one up in Anacortes, (the San Juan Islands) that wants to meet. Not sure about him yet, more talking and learning to do first.
(sigh... so many men, so little time.)
